EAL and SEND (Webinar)
This webinar launches The Bell Foundation’s new, freely available framework for integrated EAL and SEND provision in schools.
The Bell Foundation is excited to launch our new, freely available guidance for schools 'EAL and SEND: A framework for integrated provision for schools'.
The webinar will be suitable for both primary and secondary audiences, providing an overview of the new framework with a focus on its key content, structure and how it works in practice.
The guidance will be launched in the webinar, or you can sign up to the newsletter to receive it in your inbox.
Areas of focus will include:
- An overview of the new framework, including its structure and the intended outcomes;
- Information on how to access the framework;
- Examples of how the framework and its associated resources are used in practice;
- Time and opportunity for questions.
Part of the webinar will be allocated to a Q&A session. If you have any questions related to the webinar topic which you would like answered during the live session, please send them to: webinar@bell-foundation.org.uk

Your trainer, Anna
Anna Mason is the EAL Co at Lawnswood High School, Leeds. She manages an EAL Department that welcomes, supports, teaches, integrates and celebrates young people and their families who arrive from other countries. Additional to this role, she delivers EAL teacher training programmes to trainee teachers at universities and learning alliances in the region and works as an EAL consultant.
Passionate about inclusion, she continues to work closely with organisations that support refugee and asylum seekers such as Schools of Sanctuary and previously partnered with My Bright Kite on the “Freedom of Voice” project to promote the well-being and inclusion of young migrants.
Your trainer, Fiona
Fiona Gallagher has worked as a teacher in both primary and secondary education for over 25 years. She is passionate about inclusion and keeps it at the heart of what she does – and really promotes using a Strengths Based approach.
She has worked in senior leadership roles leading educational practice in primary and secondary settings including leading SENDCO and inclusion strategically for 14 years. Other responsibilities include - designated child looked after lead, dyslexia assessor, autism lead and trauma trained practitioner. She is currently working for the local authority leading a team of SEMH senior practitioners and inclusion workers across settings and schools in Leeds in consultation capacity.
Your trainer, Katherine
Katherine Solomon works as Head of Training and Resources for The Bell Foundation. Prior to joining Bell, she worked as a teacher, teacher educator and academic manager both in the UK and overseas. She holds PGCE Primary, CELTA and DELTA qualifications and an MA in Applied Linguistics. Her professional interests include EAL assessment and working in partnership with schools and colleges to build sustainable provision for learners who use EAL.
