Evaluating your Whole-School EAL Provision: Tools and Recommendations (Webinar)

This webinar explores practical ideas for how schools can evaluate and develop their provision for multilingual learners.

As the end of the academic year rapidly approaches, schools begin to turn their attention to preparing for the next academic year. This webinar will consider the importance of evaluating your whole-school EAL provision and will introduce a new framework to ensure the evaluation is thorough and meaningful.

In this webinar, we will introduce The Bell Foundation’s new framework, EAL Provision; Whole-School Evaluation, which guides schools through a comprehensive developmental assessment of their provision for multilingual learners. We will be joined by speakers who will share practical ideas around both the evaluation and the next steps that result from the process.

Areas of focus will include:

  • The importance of evaluating your whole-school provision for learners who use English as an Additional Language (EAL);
  • An overview of the documents available to support the evaluation;
  • Practical suggestions for how a school can evaluate its own EAL provision;
  • Examples of how schools have developed their EAL provision following an evaluation.

Speakers:

  • Sheila Hopkins, Trainer; The Bell Foundation;
  • Karen Warwick, Trainer; The Bell Foundation;
  • Karen Thomas, Ethnic Minority Achievement Service Manager and Lead Advisor; Portsmouth City Council;
  • Kerry James, Headteacher; Christ Church Primary School, Weston-super-Mare.
