Sheila Hopkins

Sheila Hopkins joined The Bell Foundation as a trainer in 2020. She holds an MA in TESOL along with qualifications in primary education and EAL teaching. She has worked as an EAL specialist for ten years in primary and secondary settings and for an additional 15 years as an EAL educator in initial teacher training programmes and continued professional development courses at the university level in the United States. Her work with The Bell Foundation focuses on EAL training for initial teacher education, early career teachers and senior leaders. Her professional interests include promoting, (a) a functional approach to language development through classroom curriculum, (b) an assets-based approach to multilingualism in schools and, (c) confidence in teachers as they strive to provide an equitable education for all learners.
