The Foundation is running a series of three webinars focusing on how teachers can effectively support the learning of EAL pupils during and after school closures:

Supporting the home learning of primary EAL pupils

Areas of focus will include:

  • What specific aspects to prioritise when supporting the remote learning of primary EAL pupils kept at home working independently on online tasks
  • Resources and materials that can be readily used or adapted to engage EAL pupils in meaningful learning
  • Practical suggestions for mitigating the impact of school closures on the learning and attainment of EAL pupils when they return to school

Assessing the learning of EAL pupils

4.00-5.00pm, 30 April 2020

Areas of focus will include:

  • The latest Ofqual guidance regarding how pupils will be assessed following the cancellation of summer exams and what it means for English as an Additional Language pupils
  • How regular and effective teacher assessment and feedback can be conducted as part of the remote learning tasks set with English as an Additional Language pupils in mind
