This is a pack of worksheets and visual materials to support EAL learners with basic diary writing. This resource is suitable as a whole class activity for the 8 to 11 age group or as a differentiated resource for beginner EAL learners aged 12 to 14. It is also suitable for intermediate EAL learners who world benefit from practice with recounting in the past tense in English. The PowerPoint is devised to revise/introduce activities in the past tense together with time. There is also an initial speaking and listening pair-work task using daily routine and times and then an individual reading activity. The follow-up ‘Writing a diary extract’ worksheet is an individual activity on diary writing and provides a model diary extract, features to include and a simple writing frame.
