Using these activities learners can compare the ways of life in the areas of farmimg, writing, education, mathematics, astronomy, types of settlement and religion. The activities are fun and encourage group work, while teaching learners how to organise information and write to compare.

The main activity is an information gap task, where groups of learners have different information about the Mayans and the Anglo Saxons. Learners listen to each other, and then organise the information using the table provided. A PowerPoint slide provides guidance on writing sentences to compare using different connectives, which can be used to help learners write paragraphs about what they have learnt. A comparison sort activity can be used to check if learners have retained the information they have learnt.
