Which food gives the most energy?
The flashcards show the various steps of the practical, with a photograph and simple sentence on each one. The idea of this resource is to ensure that a practical science activity is accessible to beginner EAL learners.
The flashcards can be used in a range of ways, for example to explain the task in advance, to help learners describe the process afterwards or to support them in writing about it. A list of basic connectives is included which provides additional scaffolding for oral or written tasks. There are also model sentences using examples of comparative language structures, which can be used as scaffolding for speaking or writing about the conclusion after completing the experiment.
