World War II D-Day

D-Day was one of the pivotal assaults in World War Two, resulting in the Allied liberation of Western Europe.

This resource provides exciting opportunities for learners to discover the history of that momentous day. A jigsaw activity enables learners to explore the facts, working together to answer a set of questions. Learners then categorise statements under four headings, an activity which not only solidifies their learning, but also acts as an oral rehearsal to writing using paragraphs.

This activity is suitable for whole class use and particularly targeted at intermediate and advanced EAL learners, as it provides an opportunity for exploratory talk and a chance to practise using academic language.
