Assessing the Language Proficiency of Learners who use EAL (Online Course)

This course teaches school staff how to assess the English language proficiency of multilingual learners using the Foundation’s Assessment Framework.

Course dates: 18 September – 18 October 2024

Length: minimum of 5 hours of online study over a 4.5-week period.

About the course

This practical online course for international school staff aims to equip you to be able to embed effective practices for assessing the English language proficiency of multilingual learners. This will help to inform targeted in-class support, leading to improved learning and educational outcomes for these learners. The course will introduce you to The Bell Foundation’s award-winning EAL Assessment Framework for Schools and specialist guidance on how to use the tool in a pragmatic and realistic way that can work alongside existing assessment systems.

  • Other school staff with responsibility for EAL assessment.
