About the course

This course for EAL coordinators working in international schools will help you develop your understanding of what impactful and inclusive EAL provision looks like, and offers practical strategies to help achieve this.

On this course, you will:

  • Critically review key theories around language acquisition and consider the implications for the organisation of EAL provision at your school.
  • Explore the role of an EAL coordinator and be introduced to approaches to data collection and developing a whole school language policy.
  • Reflect on the different approaches to EAL provision typically found in international schools.
  • Learn about dimensions of inclusive practice and explore strategies for developing them within your specific school context.

In the implementation phase of the course, you will apply what you have learned by drafting an inclusive language policy or creating an action plan outlining next steps for improving EAL provision in your own context.

The course is suitable for both primary and secondary practitioners.  A certificate will be awarded for successful completion of the course.
