Setting up a new EAL department in an international school (Webinar)
This webinar looks at how teaching staff and EAL co-ordinators can support multilingual learners to develop their oracy skills.
This webinar aims to help international school educators who are tasked with setting up a new EAL department or those who are new to the role of leading on EAL provision in a school without a previous need for or history of EAL support.
We will examine the key areas to address from both a medium and long-term perspective and provide suggestions for practical first steps. We will also look at the important considerations for embedding EAL assessment, creating a strategic EAL development plan, and working successfully with colleagues and parents/carers.
Areas of focus will include:
- Gathering information on existing practice.

- Building initial and ongoing EAL assessment processes.
- Providing effective CPD for EAL.
- Promoting successful collaboration between EAL and mainstream teaching staff.
