Explore our seven calls to action for the new Government to integrate children who use EAL.
The Whole-School Self-Evaluation Toolkit assists schools as they reflect upon their current EAL provision, identify areas of strength and need, and consider actions for improving their provision for learners who use English as an Additional Language (EAL). The process is developmental in nature and highly collaborative.
The Self-Evaluation considers eight dimensions of EAL provision:
Each dimension provides a list of questions that prompt schools to examine and rank their current EAL provision based on a set of criteria and gathered evidence. Detailed guidance suggesting how to conduct the Self-Evaluation is provided along with a set of Bell Foundation resources to support recommended actions.
Schools that complete the Whole-School Self-Evaluation might be interested in looking at the EAL Accreditation scheme by The Bell Foundation as a way to recognise excellent provision for multilingual learners.
