Ice Age

This EAL resource pack provides collaborative opportunities for KS2 multilingual learners to develop listening and speaking skills as they build up vocabulary and content knowledge in Part 1. In Part 2 learners build on that knowledge as they engage in extended conversations and writing activities.

Both resource packs provide word mats and flashcards to support vocabulary development.

Part one provides visuals for learners to build up knowledge of Ice Age animals and offers a listening jigsaw activity that focuses on descriptive language as learners guess the animals their classmates are describing.

Part two builds on the vocabulary and content knowledge gained in Part one as learners extend conversations to collaboratively determine similarities and differences amongst their animals. A talk to writing activity is provided where learners predict three reasons for why some Ice Age animals became extinct and includes a final Dictogloss activity to support listening comprehension.
