Part 2: Jigsaw reading
This is the second resource in the set. It includes two jigsaw readings: The first about women’s rights in the 1800s; The second about suffragettes and suffragists. Learners work individually and then collaboratively to co-construct knowledge. In both activities learners first work individually to read their texts, and then share their information with their partner to co-construct knowledge. This resource makes use of DARTs, speaking frames and pictures to aid understanding.
Part 3: Writing
This is the third and final resource in the set. This resource pack provides scaffolding that supports learners to explain and compare, in writing, the differences between the suffragettes and suffragists so that they can write a short essay. The pack includes: a Venn diagram revision exercise; a model essay, with tasks to highlight features of writing used to compare and contrast; a writing frame to support learners to write a short comparative essay.
