This resource centres around a speech by Beyoncé, and is designed for use with whole classes . It provides a spider diagram and a listening frame for gist and detail. It introduces/revisits key persuasive devices such as alliteration, personal tone, rule of three, the imperative mood, emotive language etc., and provides examples and a highlighting activity to practice identifying these features. There is an optional homework task in which students begin to research a charity with the view to eventually writing their own persuasive speech.
