NEW: Guidance and resources for schools and teachers to support pupils who use EAL and their families to help mitigate any learning and language loss experienced during school closures.
Karen Warwick joined The Bell Foundation as a trainer in November 2020. She has worked as an EAL specialist teacher in a range of primary schools as part of a large EAL team in London and Wales for the past 22 years. More recently Karen has worked in this field in an independent capacity. Building capacity and promoting inclusive EAL provision and practices in schools has been central to her work. She has worked closely with EAL families including asylum seeker families and families from the Syrian Refugee Resettlement Programme (SRRP) at a school level. Karen has delivered in-service EAL training in a range of contexts to schools and has always enjoyed this aspect of her work. She has an MA in Education and a CELTA qualification. Once upon a time she was a class teacher and a very long time ago qualified and worked as staff nurse in Bristol.
