Flashcards
This four-part pack of resources provides language support for multilingual learners who are studying the ‘Wider Worlds’ anthology, in the AQA English Literature GCSE course. The resources cover five of the poems in the anthology and provide scaffolding and support for accessing the language and vocabulary of each poem, through the use of visuals that help to set the scene for each poem, bilingual dictionaries and vocabulary-focused activities.
The resources provide a range of activities, including for speaking, reading and writing, in which learners work alone and in collaboration with their peers, as they move towards being able to write a comparison between two poems, as required in the examination. The activities provide opportunities, with support, for learners to respond to the poems and make connections with their own lives.
The activities include sentence starters and writing frames, to model the language learners need to use in the examination and to give learners multiple opportunities to practise engaging with and writing about the poems, and to make additional connections with poems in the rest of the anthology.
