Trustee
Laura is an education policy specialist with seven years of experience at the Department for Education where she is currently Head of Qualifications Funding Approval. Previously, she worked on ESOL policy and coordinating cross-government work on English language provision. Prior to joining the civil service, Laura developed and led third-sector education projects with a focus on social inclusion in Northern Ireland, Australia, and England. This included setting up an education and employment support programme at EACH Counselling in London, supporting adults with substance misuse issues and experience with domestic abuse in multi-ethnic communities. Laura currently serves as vice-chair of trustees of Jigsaw Plus, an innovative autism charity supporting young adults with complex needs to live rich and independent lives.
Originally from Germany, Laura has first hand experience of studying ESOL and community courses in Northern Ireland.
