Adaptations To Different Habitats Beginners' Version
There is a differentiated activity for those who are in the early stages of learning English.
Learners first consider desert and Arctic environments and their differences and similarities. Vocabulary is introduced on the PowerPoint and this is intended to develop the range of language that learners are using. They then look at how polar bears and camels have adapted to survive and discuss the adaptations in pairs. There is a differentiated activity for those who are in the early stages of learning English with a more limited range of vocabulary and less writing at length. The end task is to complete an extended piece of writing comparing and contrasting the two habitats and the polar bear and the camel. Learners need to use language to explain, describe, compare and justify. There is a checklist for learners to complete which encourages them to use language that has been taught in the lesson.
