Country puzzle
A fun and engaging group work activity to gather information on countries and their cultures. Easy to differentiate for a range of abilities, includes graphic organiser and speaking frame for EAL learners.

This is a whole class collaborative activity where learners piece together information about a country. Basic details of 36 countries are included, from Afghanistan to Uruguay, and further information found from an atlas or the internet. Groups then feed back what they have discovered about their country to the rest of the class, and a recording worksheet is to encourage active listening. The activity supports learners in finding basic information from an atlas and the internet, and to understand that there may be ethnic and linguistic diversity within a country and also ethnic and linguistic links between countries.
