Exploring effective leadership in multilingual international schools (Webinar)

Our guest speaker, Jacob Huckle, shares a framework for effective leadership in multilingual schools.

Leading in a multilingual international school context provides a distinct and complex set of challenges. 

 Join us as school leader and expert in multilingual learning, Jacob Huckle, discusses the specific knowledge, skills, and values required to lead effectively in multilingual settings.  

 This webinar is an opportunity for any senior or middle leaders working in international schools to think more deeply about responding to the needs of plurilingual learners and creating meaningful change through a whole school approach to multilingual provision. The webinar will include a Q&A session with Jacob. 

 Areas of focus will include: 

  • The complexities of leading in multilingual contexts. 
  • Shifting perspectives towards an ecological response to multilingualism. 
  • Competencies for leading in international schools. 
  • Shared leadership responsibilities and successful collaboration between leadership and EAL specialists.

Speaker biographies:

Jacob HuckleHead of Multilingual Learning, Dulwich College Suzhou 

Jacob Huckle has been teaching and leading EAL in China since 2012. He is currently Head of Multilingual Learning at Dulwich College Suzhou and is also studying part-time for a Doctorate in Education at the University of Bath, researching multilingualism and interculturality in international schooling. As well as presenting at conferences and facilitating professional development workshops, he enjoys writing about EAL, multilingualism, inclusion, and intercultural understanding for various publications.
