Aligning your vision and evaluating existing provision

Pre-webinar online tasks, completed at your own pace over a two-week period.

You will:

• Explore the shifting perspectives and ideologies around multilingualism and inclusion.

• Consider their implications for the organisation of EAL provision at your school.

• Evaluate your current EAL provision through the lens of academic, linguistic and social inclusion, and the attitudes of teaching staff.

• Understand how your provision aligns with the ethos and vision for your school.

Time commitment: A minimum of 2 hours, although if you decide to complete all optional tasks, this may take up to 5 hours.

• Option 2: 6 May 2027, 10:00 UK time (UTC+1).

You will:

• Explore how to create a school culture that enables multilingual learners to thrive.

• Discuss practical strategies for gaining buy-in from students, staff, and families.

• Examine relevant case studies to inform effective practice.

• Share ideas and experiences with fellow course participants.

Time commitment: 1 hour.

Developing your own provision

Post-webinar project to implement learning from the course, followed by tutor feedback.

You will:

• Choose a specific area of focus for development within your school.

• Explore key issues related to your chosen focus area.

• Develop a clear action plan outlining next steps for strengthening multilingual provision in your school(s), focusing on the following areas:

• Setting school policy for multilingual provision.

• Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for EAL.

• Assessment, data collection, and accountability.

• Share ideas and learning with other course participants.

Time commitment: A minimum of 2 hours, although if you decide to complete all optional tasks, this may take up to 5 hours.
