Comprehensible English for New Arrivals Using EAL in Primary Settings (Online Training)

This session for primary school staff aims to raise awareness of what is and what is not comprehensible, accessible English Language for learners who use EAL, particularly those who are new to English or in the Early Acquisition stages.

Who should register for the training

  • Primary school teachers and teaching assistants.
  • SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators).
  • EAL coordinators or specialists working with EAL learners.
  • School leaders who support or oversee EAL provision.

 

Why you should register for the training

  • To understand what makes English challenging for EAL learners, particularly those new to English or in early stages of acquisition.
  • To gain access to simple, effective techniques for giving clear instructions and checking understanding.
  • To learn strategies that can be immediately applied in and outside the classroom to support EAL learners.
  • To foster a more inclusive learning environment for all students, particularly those with diverse linguistic backgrounds.
  • To expand your expertise in working with EAL learners, strengthening your teaching practice and confidence.
