Pathways to Work improved my language, especially work terms, and built my knowledge of the UK work environment, but most importantly, it raised my confidence to speak and believe that I could get the job type I want Mohamed, participant in Refugee Action's Pathways to Work project, funded by the Foundation

In 2022, we marked our ten-year anniversary. Over the past decade, we have trained more than 86,000 teachers, have achieved key policy outcomes and become a leading voice on tackling language barriers faced by speakers of English as an Additional Language.

Our founding vision remains as important now as it did then. Last year, we saw the biggest refugee movement in Europe since World War Two. Across the UK, over 1,040,000 adults now also report that they “do not speak English well” or “at all”.

We continue to respond rapidly to this national and global context, and in 2022, accelerated the reach and impact of our work, through:

  • Thought leadership and influencing;
  • Building capacity through training, resources and guidance;
  • Grant funding.
