Teaching Assistants: Supporting Learners Who Use EAL (Online Course)

This course helps teaching assistants understand the challenges faced by learners using EAL and introduces practical support strategies.

Course dates: 24 January – 23 February 2024 .

Length: minimum of 5 hours of online study over a 4.5-week period.

About the course

This course aims to familiarise teaching assistants (TAs) working in international schools with some of the challenges that learners using EAL might face when learning English and learning through English at the same time. The course introduces practical, easy-to-use strategies for supporting learners who use EAL to develop the language skills they need to access the curriculum and fulfil their potential. 

This course is suitable for all TAs in an international context, whether or not they speak English as a first language. Please note a minimum CEFR level of B2 is recommended to fully engage with the course material. 

A certificate will be awarded for successful completion of the course.
